It would be a shame to miss Taman Negara in Malaysia on that Itinerary. One of the world's great national parks.

You can most likely get a 20-hour bus between each city. If you can swing that, you're good to go.

I am also planning to travel across south america. I know the information given above is enough for a traveler, but since i am new, is there any website through which i can book a ticket and accommodation for me? It will be helpful. I am thinking to visit Machhu Pichhu first.

Ellen,

Thanks for visiting TravelRelic.com.

Here are a few standard expectations from our experience in South America.

Pre-purchasing bus tickets: Very difficult to do BEFORE arriving in South America, but any bus station will usually sell you a ticket for future travel. The best strategy you can use to insure you get the ticket you want for the date you want is to buy your ticket out of the city as soon as you arrive. It saves you a cab/bus ride to the terminal later as well as time.

The average bus ride in Argentina, for example, is around 20 hours. In Chile, travel from the northern border to Santiago is around 36. In Brazil, bus rides can frequently take 20+ hours, all depending on distance. In summary, expect long bus rides and plan accordingly. Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil offer quality bus travel light years ahead of other Andean countries.

For a month's travel, assuming nightly indulgence and frequent travel, you could get by on $2k US or 1,000 Quid. Of course, it all depends on what you're looking for, although there are a lot fewer tourist distractions than in other continents (I'm thinking of how easily it is to burn through cash in New Zealand, for example).

Enjoy the trip!
Garrett

hello,

We are trying to find information about travelling round south america this summer. Where can you purchase the bus tickets prior to arrival?
We want to know how much it will cost once we are in south america to travel from country to country?
If we are going for a month how much would you say we need?

thanks
